IFA 2015 is well underway over in Berlin and is bringing new products to light by the boatload. Today, Parrot has introduced the latest iteration of its Zik line of headphones. The new third generation model has unique stylings and is boosted by a completely wireless design (even charging) and new software for iOS and Android wearables.
The new Parrot Zik 3 features the familiar leather-grain design, but with a “croc texture” and overstitched details in the following colors: black, brown, green, and red. Parrot certainly opted to go with a luxurious look on this refresh. If you’re into headphones that standout, you’ll want to take a hard look at these.
Parrot is touting a completely wireless design: aside from Bluetooth and NFC pairing, the Zik 3 has inductive charging. A wireless charger is included but the headphones are also compatible with any Qi accessories.
Capacitive controls on the side of the headphones handle volume levels with a vertical swipe, tracks skips with a horizontal touch and play/pause with a tap. The Zik 3 also detects head movement, automatically pausing your music when the cans are removed from your ears. Additionally, noise cancellation and “HD telephone calls” highlight the list of buzz-worthy features. If you don’t mind the wire, you can plug into your computer’s USB port for high-resolution audio.
Apple Watch and Android wear compatibility are also big additions this generation. Listeners can adjust EQ levels from their wrist, including preset and user-designed modes. More settings are available via the iOS or Android app. Parrot claims up to 18 hours of battery life on a single charge.
The Zik 3’s will be available in Q4 2015. Pricing is currently unknown, but if the previous generation is any indication, it won’t be cheap.
