There is no better tablet deal out there than the Kindle Fire 7-inch IPS display tablet for $49.99 shipped. Sure it is all baseline specs, the front and back cameras aren’t amazing and it only has 8GB of storage. It runs FireOS instead of Google’s full Android which isn’t a bad thing if you don’t need Google’s apps.
But that doesn’t mean it still isn’t a great consumption machine for $50 (or 6 pack for $250!). You get Netflix/Hulu/Amazon Prime videos and music. Tons of Appstore apps and Amazon’s best selection of eBooks on the planet. Amazon also offers a free paid app every day.
Today Amazon gives more options to those in the $50 tablet market. Besides black, you can grab the playful magenta, blue, and tangerine colors and for $20 more you can get a 16GB option (also available on the ruggedized kids version w/2 year garantee)
Customers can now choose between three new colors: magenta, blue, and tangerine, as well as black—and still for only $49.99. Fire is also available with 16 GB of internal storage for only $69.99.
Also starting today, Fire Kids Edition, the tablet built from the ground up for kids (and their parents), is available with a new green kid-proof case (already available in pink or blue) and with 16 GB of internal storage for $119.99. Fire Kids Edition with 8 GB of internal storage will continue to be available for only $99.99.
I’ll be honest, I like the colors but I’m not sure I’m in on a 40% increase in price for 8GB of storage. The Kindle Fire also has MicroSD storage which means you can certainly store your media more cheaply with a MicroSD card. That same $20 buys you a 64GB MicroSD card that you can also throw into a GoPro, Raspberry Pi or Android phone.
A full-featured 7″ Fire tablet with a 1024 x 600 IPS display that’s perfect for watching movies like Frozen, plus a fast quad-core processor that ensures quick app launch times and smooth games and video. The Fire Kids Edition tablet comes in black (with a blue, pink, or green Kid-Proof Case), 8 GB or 16 GB of internal storage, and up to 128 GB of expandable storage with microSD.
