Best Buy hands Apple’s 9.7-inch iPad Pro its first significant discount, 128GB model now $650

Update (5/17 8:15am): Students and faculty can save an extra $50 on iPad Pro at Best Buy. That drops the 9.7-inch 128GB Wi-Fi model down to just $599.99 shipped.

Update (5/16 3:30pm): B&H offers the 32GB model in Space Gray on sale for $549 shipped (Reg. $599, tax in New York only).

Best Buy has launched a $100 discount on select Apple 9.7-inch iPad Pro models. The offer applies to 128GB and 256GB Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Cellular configurations. That drops the 128GB model down to $649.99, which is only $50 more than the retail price of the baseline 32GB variant. That’s a no-brainer upgrade since you’re getting four times as much storage. Unveiled only 2 months ago, the smaller iPad Pro features a Smart Connector, Apple Pencil support, four speaker audio and a display that’s “the brightest and least reflective in the world.” Plus, it’s available in Rose Gold!

Use your savings to buy a Smart Keyboard or Apple Pencil, while they’re still on sale. Or just pick up a budget-priced case with auto sleep/wake from Amazon.

If you’re looking to go all-out, Apple’s 12.9-inch iPad Pro has been discounted down to just $640.

iPad Pro is more than the next generation of iPad — it’s an uncompromising vision of personal computing for the modern world. It puts incredible power that leaps past most portable PCs at your fingertips. It makes even complex work as natural as touching, swiping, or writing with a pencil. And whether you choose the 12.9-inch model or the new 9.7-inch model, iPad Pro is more capable, versatile, and portable than anything that’s come before. In a word, super.
