Devialet has released some incredible speakers over the last few years but none of those rival its latest creation in power or frequency response. The new Phantom Gold is capable of pushing out an incredible 4,500 watts of power. That’s over five times as much in comparison to its previous releases. With a focus on high-resolution audio plus a slick gold and aluminum design, this Phantom is a visual show-stopper…
Back to that watt count. Just how powerful is 4,500? Most home theater systems top out at around 750 or so. We’re talking a massive amount of sound coming through the Phantom Gold. Its sound pressure level (SPL) hits 108dB, which is louder than a Boeing 707 flying overhead prior to landing. That’s a potentially damaging amount of noise coming at you over an extended period of time.
Devialet is known for its ability to provide exceptional sound quality at high volume levels. The Phantom Gold continues that trend with a frequency response of 14Hz to 27kHz. For comparison, JBL’s Charge 2+ Bluetooth speaker fails to come close to those numbers with a 75Hz – 20kHz rating. Devialet pulls this off by using a titanium tweeter and ADH processor.
High resolution audio up to 24-bit/192kHz is supported by aluminum midrange and bass drivers. Listeners will be able to control playback via the free companion app on iOS or Android as well as Mac/PC. Most users will likely opt for AirPlay or Bluetooth connectivity although it also has an optical input. At $2,990, you’d hope to see this level of connectivity in a product like this. There is support for pairing up to 24 units together for a multi-room setup if that’s in your budget.
Pre-orders launched today with an estimated ship date of July 14th.
