Every day we bring you all of the top games that go on sale for iOS. But with so many amazing titles constantly being added to Apple’s ever-expanding mobile marketplace, we thought it was time to start highlighting some of the best new games for iPad and iPhone in a new feature.
This month Pokemon Go has destroyed all expectations and set new download records on the App Store, so instead we will be catching up some recently released titles you may have overlooked. The list includes the latest Star Wars LEGO brick building adventure, some very interesting new physics-based puzzlers and more dungeon crawling loot than you can ask for:
LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Released just at the tale end of last month in conjunction with its major motion picture counterpart, this one brings much of what we have come to expect from these LEGO crossovers. Which, for the most part, is usually a charming and fun-to-play nod to the source material. And Force Awakens is no exception.
LEGO Star Wars™: The Force Awakens™ introduces exciting gameplay mechanics never before available in a LEGO game including: Multi-Builds, Blaster Battles and enhanced flight sequences…Choose from multiple building options with the new Multi-Builds system to solve puzzles, or just to have fun. All actions advance the experience in different ways.
And while we are talking LEGO, you might as well go check out the newly revealed LEGO Batman movie sets coming for Comic-Con.
Heroes of Loot 2
It doesn’t get a whole lot better when it comes to Rogue-like dungeon crawlers on iOS than Heroes of Loot. So when the sequel hit the App Store I was sure to jump all over it, and it was no disappointment. Just about all the goodness for the original is back, along with a series of enhancements including the ability to take two heroes into the perilous castle hallways and chambers. You can switch between them freely to exploit their different abilities and solve tricky puzzles. I highly recommend this one for anyone who is fan of the original or is in for a challenging rogue-like. You’ll most likely want an MFi controller for this one, I sure do.
While we are talking about dungeon crawling, a special shout out goes to the recently released Redungeon for its unique (and very addictively difficult) take on the genre.
Perchang
Perchang is a new physics-based puzzler that incorporates a host of ever-challenging puzzles based around wacky mechanical machines and a relaxing atmosphere. Along with the addictive nature of the creative contraptions, the graphics and art direction make this one just as fun to look at as it is to play.
Welcome to Perchang! A test of skill and puzzle solving across 60 stunning levels.
Exercise your brain and test your coordination to guide the tiny balls to their goal. Activate flippers, magnets, portals, fans, anti-gravity hoops and many more gizmos to complete each mind bending stage. Don’t take too long though…. You’re on the clock!
Super Stickman Golf 3
Stickman Golf is back with 20 new courses and it’s better than ever. While it may not look like much to those that haven’t tried the previous two, it’s awesome, trust me. The physics-based mini-golf on steroids makes what might be one of the slowest sports known to man quite exciting. There are hilarious outfits to unlock for your golfer along with a series of interesting power-ups you can use to enhance your game. They actually add quite an interesting level of depth and strategy to the experience.
Master the 20 new courses on your own or square off against your friends and players from all over the world in one of the many multiplayer modes. Be it turn-based play or real-time race mode, Super Stickman Golf 3 has enough content to keep you playing for years!
Hyperburner
I don’t normally flock do these types of radial-like racers, but Hyperburner’s aesthetics and break-neck speeds caught my eye. Set in a futuristic space station of sorts, the game has you frantically racing through beautiful, but dangerous and increasingly difficult-to-navigate courses. The fluid controls and pretty scenery has me hooked.
Hyperburner is a high-speed space flier set in a distant colonial solar system. Take your ship through increasingly dangerous courses, unlocking endless-mode leaderboards as you go. Built for mobile with smooth and responsive free-steering, playable in portrait or landscape.
Honorable mentions go to recent releases: Rodeo Stampede – Sky Zoo Safari and Twilight Struggle Mobile
