4K Ultra HD TVs have been slow to catch on due to astronomical prices and scarce content. At least one of these hurdles is being torn down, you can now buy a 50 inch 4K TV for only $1,299. Tiger Direct is offering the Seiki 50″ Class 2160p 120Hz LED HDTV, this low price point almost matches high-end standard HD TV sets. Keep in mind that just becuase prices are down you should still be hesitant about jumping into the 4K world, Engadget explains:
There are plenty of reasons not to be an early adopter — the infamous eye charts suggest 4K’s impact at this size may be reduced, it’s an unknown company with unknown standards for quality and service, a new HDMI standard may be incoming and there’s no content until the $699 FMP-X1 player arrives this summer
That being said, if you love being on the bleeding edge of technology this deal may be enticing enough for you. Be sure to check out Seiki reviews before purchasing. If money is no object you can also look to preorder the Sony 65X900A for $7,000.
