Google recently unveiled a new sub $300 HP-made Chromebook, said to be based on the design of the Chromebook Pixel. It is set to launch on October 16 starting at $280 through Amazon, Google Play, and Best Buy as well as other retailers. Today, MacMall is offering preorders on the new HP Chromebook 11 with a $10 discount, bringing the total down to $270 with free shipping. This also sees the device’s price draw even nearer to Samsung’s 11-inch $249 option.

It features an 11.6″ IPS display with 16:9 aspect ratio at 1366 x 768, VGA webcam, Two USB 2.0 ports, MicroUSB for 15.75W charging, SlimPort video output, 802.11a/b/g/n, built-in optional 3G and  Bluetooth 4.0. It also comes with 16 GB of storage plus 100GB of Google Drive space.
