6TB hard drives from Seagate and Western Digital hit store shelves starting under $300, 5TB Toshiba USB 3 under $190

If you are looking to add some high density hard drive space to your computer, Network Attached Storage (NAS) or USB/Thunderbolt External Drive enclosure you can now celebrate. 6TB drives from  Seagate and Western Digital announced this week allow you to put 6TB in 3.5-inch enclosure spaces that until recently, only could handle 4TB. Even better, Seagate is going very aggressive with 6TB capacity starting prices below $300. Seagate is also pushing Server models in its LaCie subsidiary. If you are a Western Digital type of person, their Helium drives require a bit more spend.

Also new to the market is Toshiba’s 5TB Drives which we spotted for under $190 in USB 3 form factor for the first time this week.
