IFA Roundup: Wacom iPad styluses, Harman Kardon Omni wireless home speaker system, Sphero Ollie, more

It may feel like the tech world has been put on pause until Apple’s special event next week, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Some of the biggest consumer electronics companies in the world are announcing amazing products at the IFA convention in Berlin, Germany.

Instead of singling one product out today for our New Toy of the Day, we’re going to take a look at some of our favorite new products from Wacom, Jabra, Harman Kardon, and others that were recently announced at IFA…

You wouldn’t catch Steve Jobs using a stylus on his iPhone, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t ever a need for one. Wacom has introduced new styluses that offer more natural writing and drawing on touchscreen devices: the Bamboo Solo ($19.95)/Duo ($29.95) with responsive carbon fiber nib, the Bamboo fineline high-precision stylus ($59) with Bluetooth for note taking, and the Intuos Creative Stylus 2 ($79) with 2,048 pressure levels for detailed drawings. All of these styluses are available now from Amazon and Wacom.

Cut the cord with Jabra’s new Move Bluetooth wireless headphones. Priced at just $99.99, these headphones feature a durable stainless steel headband, up to 8 hours of playback with USB charging, and on-board music and phone controls. Preorder now from Amazon or Jabra and your Move headphones will ship within the next few weeks.

Harman Kardon is coming for Sonos (and Samsung, Bose, etc), with its new Omni 10 ($199.95) and Omni 20 ($299.95) wireless whole home speaker systems. Additionally Harman Kardon also announced the Adapt plug-in ($129.95) that’s used to upgrade your legacy stereo equipment: “Making full use of Harman’s expertise in audio technology, Adapt connects the gap between your existing Hi-Fi gear and the wireless network, to deliver pure, crisp sound at the touch of a button.” All of these products connect via WiFi and can be controlled by a mobile app. The Omni sound system will be Harman Kardon’s first product that supports developers applications. Available for order from Harman Kardon with an expected ship date of mid-October.

Sphero, makers of the app-controlled robotic ball by the same name, have announced that its next toy will be the Sphero Ollie. This tubular version of the original Sphero tops out at 14mph and can spin, drift, and flip with ease. It connects over Bluetooth LE and has a battery life of approximately 60 minutes. You can get your hands on the Ollie later this month for $99.99.
