SanDisk is introducing the “world’s highest capacity SDXC card” with the new 512GB SanDisk Extreme PRO SDHC/SDXC UHS-I Memory Card. Designed for photography professionals or anyone who needs a large amount of SD storage for 4K/HD footage and images, SanDisk says the pro model cards are its “most powerful, highest capacity UHS-I SD memory cards” to date.

The latest edition to SanDisk’s line of SD card options feature write speeds of up to 90MB/s and UHS Speed Class 3 which allow for smooth and stutter free high res recording. They also have transfer speeds of up to 95 MB/s which makes for a fast and “more efficient post-production workflow,” according to SanDisk.
The new cards have been built to handle harsh conditions and traveling as well. They are shockproof, X-ray proof, waterproof and can handle a wide range of temperature conditions from -13 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit.
The new Extreme PRO will come in 3 sizes: 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB, and ship worldwide with a limited lifetime warranty. At this point SanDisk has only announced the $799.99 price tag set for the 512GB model. However, B&H is currently offering pre-orders on the new 512GB model for $729.99 shipped, with an expected availability date of October 15, 2014.
