Two of Philips’ new LED light bulbs can be had for just $5 w/ a special intro promo, $5 ea otherwise

Update (4/23 10:00am): Now available to be ordered!

We’re at a tipping point with prices of LED light bulbs for home use. Over the past few years the cost of entry for LED bulbs has come down significantly. Without looking too hard you can usually find multiple name-brand options in the $10 per bulb range, while some budget options like Ikea’s Ledare bulbs have a list price of less than $5. Rebates from an increasing number of Utility companies are helping to lower overall costs even further. Heck, even Philips’ Hue Smart LED Bulbs are recent recipients of sizable price cuts.

But Philips’ latest release stands to knock down any remaining financial barriers that are holding you up from putting beautiful LED lighting throughout your house…

Philips’ new Everyday 8.5-Watt LED bulbs are just $5 each. That’s not an unprecedented price for any LED bulb, but it’s definitely new territory for a trusted company like Philips. That’s going to be the standard going rate for this model, however Philips has partnered with Home Depot to offer a special two pack of these bulbs for $4.97 (less than $2.50 a piece). Now that price is crazy for any LED bulb, and even more crazy for a Philips branded one.

The Everyday LED bulb is equivalent to a standard 60W incandescent bulb, but only draws 8.5W. You can expect a 2700K soft white light appearance from these bulbs with a brightness of 800 Lumens. Philips estimates that it’ll only cost you $1.02 per year to run an Everyday bulb based on an average usage of 3 hours per day. A couple knocks on these bulbs is that they’re only designed for indoor usage and aren’t dimmable.

The two pack deal is listed on Home Depot’s website, but it’s currently unavailable, but there’s a good chance it’ll come back in stock during the 90-day promo. We’ll let you know if we see the deal pop in stock.
