The Flyte levitating light bulb works like magic and looks like a dream

Light bulbs are dead simple to install: just screw one into a light fixture and flick the power switch on. This is true for older incandescent models as well as ones with smart capabilities. But Flyte is bringing even more simplicity and a truckload of elegance to light bulbs:

The screwless LED light bulb effortlessly levitates over the electromagnet base. Both the bulb and base are completely battery-free, however there is a power adapter built into the base. Flyte is powered “through the air via induction.”

Along with the electromagnet and power adapter, the base also houses sensors. The capacitive touch sensor acts as an on/off switch: tap the wooden base to activate or turn off the bulb.

Flyte’s design is super minimalistic: the bulb levitates over a beautiful piece of sustainable oak, ash, or walnut wood. The bulb is a low energy LED light so it isn’t going to light up an entire room, but it’ll definitely add a bit of ambience to an office or study.

Flyte has already raised $188,032 to date on Kickstarter, which is more than twice its goal of $80,000. Many of the funding opportunities are already sold out, but some of the premium options are still available.
