Take a peek at Nerf’s upcoming high octane blaster that shoots foam balls up to 70 mph + bonus deals

You may think Nerf blasters and accessories are just toys for grade school kids and bored office workers, but you’d be dead wrong. They’re serious business. Legions of adults collect and mod these foam shooters. There’s even a full-length hardcover book dedicated to Nerf’s best gear.

Earlier this year at Toy Fair NYC Nerf announced its new RIVAL lineup which includes a blaster that fires foam ammo at highway speeds. As we inch closer towards its release we’ve gotten more details and even a new video demo of Nerf’s baddest blaster:

Headlining the new RIVAL lineup is the semi-automatic ZEUS MXV-1200 Blaster with a 12-round magazine that fires foam balls at speeds of up to 70 mph (100-ft per second). That’s pretty damn fast for a toy gun, but it’s only a third of the average speed of a paintball. The ammo is smaller in diameter than the old Ballistic Balls and has dimples (like a golf ball) to increase accuracy and speed. It’s powered by six C batteries and features ambidextrous clip loading and release button, safety switch, and fold-up sight. Get a sneak peak of this blaster in a new official product demo video.

Nerf’s RIVAL ZEUS MXV-1200 Blaster is priced at $50, but it’s likely going to be tough to come by at launch (next week-ish) as Amazon and Toys R Us pre-orders are currently sold out. If you do find one, make sure you buy one of the new Rival Face Masks so you don’t end up losing an eye. Nerf is also set to release the Rival Apollo XV-700 for $24.99, but it’s a single-fire blaster and only has a 7-round magazine.

Some deals from Amazon to hold you over until the RIVAL line is released:
