One of the best ways keep a clean entertainment center is to mount Apple TV on the back of your HDTV. These multi-use mounts have been around for some time, but a couple have been updated to accommodate Apple’s new thicker streamer.
Moving Apple TV from a TV stand or nearby shelf to the rear of your HDTV allows you to cut down on cable clutter by running an extra-short HDMI cord directly to the player. If your HDTV has rear-mounted power outlets or if you happened to install a power source in your wall when mounting your HDTV, then you can go completely wire-free. Even if you just use the mount to hide your Apple TV and HDMI cable, you’ll have a much cleaner looking setup. Most Apple TV mounts work in a similar manner: the player slides into a harness that is then attached to the rear of your HDTV using air vent clips or adhesive. Other available mounts are designed to be screwed into a wall.
The most popular option is the Innovelis TotalMount Pro Mounting System. Apple sells it with a remote mount and a couple other extras for $29.95. Looking to save some money? It’s available on Amazon for $19.95 without any extras. Both options will work with 2nd, 3rd, and 4th generation Apple TVs. Innovelis also makes mounts for AirPort wireless routers, Roku players, remotes, and more. ReliaMount for new Apple TV is even more cost-effective at $14.95. There’s also the HIDEit wall mount that’s made of steel and is currently listed for $17.99.
