(Update 21/09 3:30pm): Tomorrow morning when you wake up PlayStation Plus memberships will be $60 instead of $50, so be sure to renew or grab one now while its only $50 (or less)
Sony has officially announced that its Playstation Plus memberships will be seeing a permanent price increase come September 22nd, 2016. Gamers in the US will have to drop $59.99 for a year ($69.99 in Canada), and $24.99 for three months. The monthly sub will remain at $9.99. PlayStation Plus brings online play, deep deals on the PlayStation Store and access to the monthly free game library among other things, so for many gamers this isn’t good news.
You will have time to stock up on 1 year membership cards though. While we do tend to see them down below $50 quite often, there is no telling whether or not one of those sweet $40 deals will pop-up on eBay or Newegg before the cut-off date. So it is definitely a good idea to grab a few before that time.
One quick note from Sony for those that may not be continuing their service: “If you do not wish to continue your subscription, please be sure to cancel it by turning off auto-renewal in your account settings before September 22, 2016.”
As always, all of the best deals can be found in our Games/Apps Guide and you can hit up this month’s PS Plus freebies right here.
