We have already seen our fair share of robotic companions at CES 2017 this year including Kuri and LG’s new helper bots to escort you through the airport. And now we are getting a host of new models from the makers of the Alpha Series bots headlined by the new Lynx humanoid:
UBTECH’s new Lynx combines “life-like” robotic movements with full Alexa integration. It incorporates speech/emotion recognition, natural language understanding, the ability to play music, take down reminders and allow you to take calls over Wi-Fi. This little guy will sing and dance for you on your birthday, and even follow behind you to take pictures/videos of you and your friends.
Lynx will come available in spring 2017.
Lynx combines unprecedented intelligence and robotics into one consumer-friendly platform…Integrating with Amazon’s Alexa Voice Service is a perfect match for Lynx’s unparalleled facial, image and voice recognition, emotion detection, and lifelike robotic movement, seamlessly woven together for a truly humanlike experience.
Lynx is an in-home companion that features effortless interaction to access seemingly endless resources, with instant gratification for a truly enjoyable in-home or in-office experience.
We are also getting a new STEM-focused bot in the UBTECH Jimu line for kids known as LionBot. It features 4 servo motors, an infrared sensor, 248-snap together pieces, rechargeable battery and full app connectivity. It will be available soon for $129.99 exclusively on Apple.com and select Apple retail locations.
On the industrial side of things, we have the new Cruzr bot. The cloud-based intelligent humanoid has flexible arms, full recognition/interaction, navigational mapping, video conferencing, surveillance capabilities and much more. We are already seeing LG deploy its life-size industrial bots and UBTECH will be launching Cruzr in June of 2017.
And lastly, we have the LQ-101 “intelligent family service robot” from SoundHound. It will do all the usuals from notifications to speech recognition and help with other internet search queries. Better yet, it takes request s like: “come here, rotate, dance, make specific faces, or perform kung fu.” Unfortunately we have no release information yet, but here are more details in its capabilities:
LQ-101’s high-definition video calls help families maintain relationships with long-distance loved ones, while its indoor automatic cruising, facial recognition, and carbon monoxide monitoring allow it to play the role of smart home guardian. The device also includes support for smart home control, multimedia playback and more.
