Samsung’s The Frame complements your home decor as both a TV and an art piece

We’ve covered the intersection of technology and art before. From the Apple TV’s city flyover screensaver, to Soundwall’s Nova which pairs artwork with a wireless speaker. Alongside its new home entertainment lineup, Samsung announced The Frame, which pulls inspiration from both. The Frame isn’t just a typical TV though, it features an ‘Art Mode’ that complements your home decor, rather than being an eye-sore.

The TV itself features a thin bezel and lightweight design which allows it to hang virtually anywhere, giving it the function and appearance of a framed photo. Unlike conventional TVs which fade to black once your movie is over, The Frame displays one of hundreds of art pieces that range from depicting landscape, architecture, wildlife, and more. While there is still no pricing available for The Frame, it should be released sometime this spring.

Based on new innovative technology, The Frame looks like a picture frame hanging on a wall when ‘Art Mode’ is on. Instead of fading to black like a conventional TV, The Frame’s display transforms into a work of art, letting the users select custom-designed digital art pieces. With more than 100 art pieces in 10 different categories – including landscape, architecture, wildlife, action, drawing and more – to choose from, it is sure to please every design preference. Paired with the numerous options for art layouts and colors, as well as customizable accessory options including interchangeable bezels and an optional Studio Stand, it truly complements the user’s living space.
