Urbanears gets Connected Speakers featuring both AirPlay and Chromecast

Urbanears is known to many as the seller of nicely designed headphones at an affordable price. Today it introduced its first two models of Connected Speakers: the Stammen and the Baggen. Named after areas in Stockholm, location of Urbanears headquarters, these speakers share the same simple, fabric-covered design.

If you take a look at these fascinating color cubes, the Connected Speakers are quite the noticeable music-playing boxes that you can control by nobs, and also by an app. Fun colors include Goldfish Orange, Plant Green, Indigo Blue and Dirty Pink. For a more subtle vibe, Concrete Grey and Vinyl Black are available as well.

Moving onto connectivity specs, both speaker models include Bluetooth, 3.5mm aux, Spotify Connect, AirPlay, and Chromecast integration. In addition, it features a multi-room audio option, allowing up to five Stammen or Baggen devices to play simultaneously.

Hardware-wise, Urbanears has decided to push an old-fashioned approach. These wireless speakers have real knobs, so you can navigate with a simple twist and a push. The Stammen and the Baggen also slightly differ internally. The little Stammen has two tweeters and a subwoofer, while the larger Baggen features two full-range drivers instead of tweeters.

The flexibility of these speakers really is incredible. It lets you play your music however you want, whether you have an AirPlay setup or a Chromecast setup at home. The ability to go old-school with an AUX cable is a nice thing, too.

With a 4/5 star rating on Amazon, Urbanears has already done a nice job with their headphones. Customers seem to enjoy the sound quality and the gorgeous design, along with the sturdy cloth cord, inconspicuous mic, and subtle speakers. The special qualities of the Connected Speaker models are predicted to become popular as well.

While experimenting with the many smart, app-enabled speakers of modern times, we’ve been deprived of really interacting with our music. The Stammen and Baggen bring us back with a beautiful humanized interface that adds some personality to your sound system.

On March 30, the Baggen will go for $450 and the Stammen for $350. Directly available at Urbanears online.
