Robosea, an entrepreneurial technology company, has set out to create a device to capture your underwater adventures in a brand new way with its “robotic fish”. The company just launched yesterday on Kickstarter and already reached its funding goal within 10 hours of being online.
The new invention is called BIKI (pronounced BEE-key) and Robosea promises it will liven up any day at the pool, fishing trip, or snorkeling adventure or even deep sea diving. Like no other underwater drone before it, BIKI has features like automated balance, obstacle avoidance, and return to base if it loses signal from its waterproof remote.
Also, you may notice it does not have a propeller or tether to keep it connected. This is so it doesn’t scare away fish or disturb the underwater habitat. Because it has no propeller, it’s safe for kids to handle as well.
BIKI can swim for up to 90-120 minutes on a single charge, and can still work at depths of nearly 200 feet. It has been programmed to avoid obstacles automatically and adapt to different complex environments intelligently. 4K video can be captured and easily be shared or transmitted to your phone or tablet and to social media sites as well.
If you happen to lose the connection to BIKI, built-in GPS tells it to return to where it started from or BIKI will send real-time locations to your devices. In addition to 4K video, BIKI also supports 16MP photography at 30fps with a great view from underwater even when operating at high-speed motion or in near darkness – according to BIKI’s creators.
BIKI also runs very quietly at only 55dB making it ecologically safe. This is just another feature that prevents you from scaring away the sea life. You’ll want that 4K camera to capture the best of what your searching for down there.
BIKI also applies the technology of ABS “crashworthiness” and resistance-to-weathering, so no matter what difference in temperature from 32-158°F (0 to 70°C), corrosive offshore environments, or under long-term sunlight, BIKI should always remain in great condition.
Once again, Biki just hit Kickstarter yesterday and within 10 hours hit its funding goal. For $549 or more you can get in on the Super Early Bird Special which includes one BIKI underwater drone and a waterproof bag. (With an expected retail value of $1,024). Shipping is planned for September.
BIKI creates an extremely good user experience for swimming, diving and underwater photography fans who can carry out real-time control on movement of the robotic fish, capturing wonderful underwater moments freely. For updates on its latest unmanned underwater vehicle, BIKI, visit mybiki.com.
