One of the first things that any new Panasonic GH5 owner should invest in is a set of extra batteries. The GH-series of cameras have always had good battery life with the included stock battery, but as we noted in our hands-on overview of the camera, the GH5 is a tad more power-hungry than its predecessors.
In my experience, some of the third-party battery options that I’ve tried haven’t been nearly as good as official stock batteries, but Newmowa’s battery doesn’t fit this mold. I find that it actually performs just as well as the official stock Panasonic battery included with my Lumix GH5.
The Amazon reviews for Newmowa’s battery tell the story, customers are largely satisfied with the product’s performance. Since the GH5 uses the same cell as the GH4, there is a considerable sample of users who have experienced Newmowa’s offerings over the long term.
For under $30 dollars, you get two Newmowa 1860 mAh batteries, a dual charger, a USB micro cable, and two battery cases. That’s a substantial value for the price, especially when you consider that just one official 1860 mAh Panasonic DMW-BLF19 battery costs over $50.
I’ve been using the Newmowa batteries mixed in with the official stock Panasonic battery for the last week, and I’ve been impressed with the performance. When shooting 4K 4:2:2 10-bit video, the batteries last for over two hours. That’s roughly what I get with the stock factory BLF19 Panasonic battery.

The fact that you get two of these batteries, and a dual charger for way less than one official Panasonic battery just sweetens the deal. The inclusion of two battery cases and a USB cable makes it even better.
