T-800 Terminator Speaker packs Amazon Alexa, glowing red eyes and more

The digital assistant wars are in full swing, with Siri, Alexa and Google Now competing for market-share. But if you’ve been holding out for something a little more well, terrifying, a newly launched Kickstarter campaign reimagines the typical smart speaker as the infamous T-800 Terminator. Complete with Alexa support, high-def serenity camera and more, this speaker looks to be the best way for sci-fi fans to listen to music and control their homes.

While practically every smart speaker on the market shares the same cylindrical-based form-factor, the Terminator Multimedia sports an iconic design straight out of the 1984 hit film. Measuring in at 18-inches tall, this recreation of the fearsome robot is said to be one of the largest reproductions of the bust ever created. With a polished alloy exterior, the T-800 speaker has many of the details found in the film like glowing-red eye sockets.

Aside from being a highly-detailed bust fit for collectors, the T-800 speaker is just as feature-packed as it is well-designed. Highlighted by Amazon Alexa support, you can summon your digital assistant just through your voice. So as expected, you’ll be able to stream music, query weather, traffic and news information as well as other features supported by Alexa. Of course as a speaker, it can’t just look great. Which is why the Terminator-themed device is said to offer crisp, clear high-quality audio playback, supported by a powerful subwoofer for added bass.

With built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, you can pair your smartphone for hands-free calls or music playback as well as manually controlling all of the speaker’s features via a companion iOS and Android app. It also has an AUX input for wired connections. While the eye sockets give off the authentic red glow, the left eye sports a high-definition security camera for monitoring one’s home. What’s even better is that you can apply the Terminator’s heads up display found in the movie for an even greater level of authenticity.

With 26 days left in its campaign, the Terminator Multimedia speaker has raised over $19,000 towards its desired $177,000 goal. Starting with a pledge of $316, you’ll be able to add the speaker to your home, saving you $200 from the suggested retail price. Alongside the T-800 speaker bust, it’ll include a personalized name plaque. Backers can expect to receive their menacing robot assistant to arrive in February of 2018.

Technology: the T-800 speaker connects via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and even by Aux cable. Included is Amazon’s Alexa voice-controlled AI giving access to music streaming services, weather, news, traffic and other real-time information; empowering complete control of your home with simple voice commands.  When connected to a mobile phone, you can make and receive hands-free calls through the speaker’s built-in microphone. Our smartphone App gives you full control over the audio and the camera. Shipped in a special Kickstarter-edition giftbox, the T-800 is an advanced, fully-functional audio and video device, a virtual ‘personal assistant’ that doubles as a beautiful display piece and collectible.  Mains powered (supplied with multiple adaptor for use worldwide).
