SitTight is a balancing chair to keep you fit and active while at your desk

Sitting all day, everyday at work behind a desk has been proven to be as detrimental to your health as smoking cigarettes. So how do we get around it then if that’s where we need to be during the day? What if there was a way to keep active while still at your desk? Well, a new Kickstarter funded project, the SitTight balance chair, was created with just that in mind. It works by transforming sitting into an activity that improves your health, instead of just damaging it.

One of the key components to reversing the effects of sitting can be found in the body’s natural ability to balance. Most fitness experts have learned that balancing while exercising increases the desired results of working out. Balancing has been proven to cause an increase in heart rate from the activation of core muscles and even promoting better posture. You can also expect an increase in brain activity as the central nervous system controls those muscles and you have a sensation similar to riding a bicycle.

The creators of SitTight chair believe that their product delivers on the fundamental 3-F’s: “Fitness for your body, Focus for your mind and Fun for your spirit.” For most, you will actually have to build up your core fitness and balance to fully gain from SitTight. For beginners, you’ll need to start with your feet on the ground and then, in small increments, move your feet onto the base to begin in “Balance Active Sitting.”

Studies have also shown that bad posture, poor circulation and muscle atrophy are likely to add to the pain some experience from sitting on a traditional desk chair for long periods of time. By balancing on SitTight chair, the creators say you can actually “improve your posture, increase circulation, and strengthen your back muscles.” They also believe it will help to reduce, or even eliminate, the pain caused from extended periods of sitting.

SitTight chair can be used in two different modes. The first is called Active Sitting. This is done by sitting up straight with your feet on the floor and continuously moving your hips while moving your back and abdominal muscles. The second is Balanced Active Sitting which will increase your heart rate and circulation as you balance on your center of gravity. They say, the time you spend on your SitTight will improve your posture, helping to reduce the back and neck pain you experience from sitting all day.

You can get on the “Super Early Bird Special” and get a SitTight at wholesale for a pledge of $335 or more. That’s the lowest price the chair will be offered at individually and it will go for $595 if and when it hits retail. If all goes as planned the SitTight will begin shipping in November of this year.
