IK debuts the new iRig Keys I/O MIDI keyboard with built-in interface for iOS/Mac

IK Multimedia has a plethora of gear available to aspiring producers, musicians, engineers and more. Everything from hardcore production software to mobile speakers and interfaces, the company has something for just about anybody. After releasing its new iRig Pro I/O interface for iOS, Mac and PC users recently, IK is back at it again with its latest generation MIDI keyboard. And this time around, it is more than just a bed of keys and sliders for controlling your favorite iOS/Mac instruments…

Dubbed iRig Keys I/O, the new keyboard controller lineup features two models, one with 25 keys and one with 49. Obviously IK is aiming at a more mobile market with those form factors, but as usual the new device is compatible with iOS, Mac, PC and more.

IK says the keys feature its fastest synth-action yet and you can expect a series of other bells and whistles in terms of control. On top of 8 multi-colored LED velocity sensitive pads, you’ll find a volume/data push knob and 8 touch-sensitive control pots. Basic transport buttons are included alongside two programmable touch control strips (defaulted to pitch and modulation).

But these aren’t just your typical keyboard controllers. They have a 24-bit/96 kHz audio interface built right inside of them. That means you’ll be able to record acoustic instruments and external synths directly into your iPad/iPhone, Mac or PC with no extra interface gear. The balanced stereo and headphone outputs come along with a combo jack allowing users to record line level instruments as well as mics that require Phantom Power. This is a really nice touch on IK’s part, especially for those looking to record directly into the sans audio output iPhone 7. Presumably Apple will continue that trend making this built-in interface even more useful.

Along with as much as $750 worth of IK software and apps, they also ship with 4 x AA batteries, Mini-DIN to USB, Mini-DIN to Lightning cables and a device stand for iPhone and iPad.

Pre-orders are up now for the iRig Keys I/O. The 25-key goes for $199.99 with the larger 49-key variant carrying a $299.99 MSRP. Listings are live on the IK Multimedia online store but we are yet to see anything up on Amazon thus far.
