Who says STEM educational toys have to be boring? No one, that’s who! Especially with the new Mabot Robotic Toy currently being funded on Kickstarter. With it, kids can spend hours learning about robotics and having fun in the process.
Mabot is a very modular robotic system that kids can create unique robots that move, sense the surroundings and even interact with the environment. There are currently 4 sets of kits that are available to kids in which they can build all kinds of multi-functional robots. Then using the Android or iOS app on a phone or tablet kids can control the Mabots and learn how to program them with more functions.
Mabot is set up with 5 types of elemental balls. There’s the control ball, drive, connection, battery, and the sensor ball. Plus, each of the balls are designed to be the right size to grab for kids. Mabot is also among the first of its kind that supports “hot-plugging”. That means it is completely safe to add or remove functional components without having to turn off the power first. Each Mabot kit is also extendable with additional kits just like LEGO.

The hands-on instructions will lead the users to program their robots in specific ways and challenge them to follow through on their goals. Once you accomplish the missions and get more familiar with Mabot components, you can quickly turn your creativity into reality.
At first glance, the elemental balls might look complicated to use for children. However, they come with simple and intuitive instructions from the Mabot Go App. Kids can have hours of fun building robots from scratch and then they can create different functions into their builds. With Mabot Go app, you can easily program the robots with a simple drag-and-drop for different functions such as changing light colors, driving the wheels, hitting the button, and more.
With 24 days left to go in its campaign, Mabots has already met its fundraising goal. If you would like to get your hands on a Mabot set, a pledge of $99 will get you a starter package off the super early bird special. Shipping to backers is estimated for November of this year.
