Point is an all-in-one alarm that will let you know if something is wrong in your home, all without using invasive cameras. So when the unexpected occurs, Point is able to alert you and your family (and your friends and neighbors too) so everyone is in the know and able to help each other out. Currently being funded on Kickstarter, it has less than a month left in its campaign but has already surpassed its fundraising goal by over five times the $25,000 goal.
The Point alarm is a lot more than just a basic alert system; the creators of the device believe it gives your home a voice. It uses environmental sensors to really understand when important events happen in your home.
Point can detect events that matter the most to people in their homes. It can warn you about intrusions, smoke, loud noises/music late at night, sudden temperature changes and more. Point will send notifications right to your smartphone and the information will be available no matter where you are. Point is able to do all of this without cameras or eavesdropping thereby respecting your privacy and the privacy of your family.

Point combines sound with environmental sensor data and machine learning to detect anything out of the ordinary in your home.
It even works with Apple’s HomeKit so it can easily integrate with the rest of your smart home. Point is also compatible with IFTTT which allows you to connect it to hundreds of different applications and products to trigger reactions based on different events.
Point can sense when you leave your home and then will automatically switch on a bugler alarm. But if you want to switch the alarm on or off yourself, you can do so at any time. With a preset group or community, Point can also alert your neighbors right away when an event occurs while you are not home. It can also send text messages to those who are not using the app. Point works by combining sound and environmental sensors with an AI. Using a combination of said AI and machine learning, it can really understand what is happening in your home and keep the things that matter most to you safe.
If you want to try Point in your home, a pledge of $79 or more will get you one of the early bird special units from its Kickstarter campaign site. That’s 20% off the expected retail price and the lowest you can get it for currently. Shipping is expected for May of 2018 to backers of the smart alarm.
