These five Echo Dot add-ons take your Alexa experience to the next level

One of the hottest gifts during Black Friday week was Amazon’s own Echo Dot, which has been marked down to $30 for the holiday season. This makes the popular Alexa-enabled device a no-brainer gift at a very affordable price. After being on the market for a few years now, we’re starting to see a number of manufacturers introduce accessories for Amazon’s mini speaker.

We’ve picked out five must-have add-ons that will take your Alexa experience to the next level. Better yet, each one costs less than $50. Head below for more.

There are a number of different ways to upgrade your Echo Dot. From Bluetooth speakers, to cases and mounts, taking Amazon’s in-house speaker to the next level is easy. Aside from the obvious addition of connecting Dot to a speaker system, there are a number of ways to make the voice assistant more useful.

External battery packs make Dot mobile and allow you to move it about your home from room to room. There are a few nifty power supply options on the market today that do this, which you can find below.

iHome Bedside Stereo System for Echo Dot: $50

iHome has been making bedside docks for years, going all the way back to the original iPod. It’s first entry into the Alexa ecosystem allows users to BYOD (Bring Your Own Dot), for an interesting design that sports a built-in display. iHome’s bedside dock adds external speakers for an improved listening experience, an always-on clock and display, as well as an additional 1A USB charging port. Amazon currently offers it for $49.50 in two different colors. Rated 3.8/5 stars.

Fremo Evo Battery Base for Echo Dot: $30

Fremo’s $30 Evo bases offer up to six hours of use on a single charge of the internal 5200mAh battery. This allows Dot users to move freely about a home, or even take Amazon’s pint-sized speaker outside. It charges using Echo Dot’s own power cable and sports a solid light on the front that communicates the remaining battery capacity. Rated 3.7/5 stars.

This Dottie Plug-in Wall Mount: $20

Arguably the most unique product on our list, This Dottie offers a wall-mount and power supply all-in-one. It claims to improve the microphone arrays sensitivity and audio playback, which may be true given its vertical orientation. Either way, this is a clever option for keeping Echo Dot charged and out-of-sight in a kitchen or bathroom. Amazon currently offers it for $20 where it has collected a 4.3/5 star rating.

Amazon Echo Dot Cases: $20

So let’s say that you do want your Echo Dot on display. If you’re one that isn’t keen on its plastic exterior, Amazon offers a handful of $20 cases in a variety of finishes. This includes leather and woven fabric, both of which are stylish. Amazon customers appear to give each one the thumbs up as well, with over 1,200 reviewers leaving a 4.4/5 star rating.

Amazon Echo Buttons (2-pack): $20

Amazon’s upcoming $20 Echo Buttons deliver Jeopardy-like functionality for Alexa games. The illuminated buttons “trigger a variety of play experiences powered by Alexa.” That includes Beat the Intro, Button Monte, and Sounds Fun with Mike Epps. These are slated to ship on December 19th and guarantee a whole new world of Alexa experiences.

Still need an Echo Dot? Amazon currently has it discounted to $30 in both colors. This deal is expected to last through the holidays.
