Amongst all of the smart home success we’ve seen throughout the year, Blink was front and center. And following last week’s announcement of a new video doorbell, the home security company has unveiled it will be acquired by Amazon.
Amazon has had an extremely impressive year in terms of home automation and surveillance. With a new line of Echo devices leading the way, Amazon also showcased its Cloud Cam, Key in-house delivery and more. So while today’s acquisition news is unexpected, it makes complete sense bringing on the surveillance veteran given Amazon’s track record.
Unsurprisingly, there’s not much as of now in terms of what Amazon’s actual future plans may be by bringing on Blink. But looking ahead, if its 2018 plans are in the least bit ambitious as this past year’s, then we’ll likely see something resulting from today’s announcement sooner than later. Current Blink device owners will have nothing to worry about for the time being, as nothing appears to be changing in the near future.
We’re excited to announce that Blink has been acquired by Amazon! Since launching in early 2016, we’ve been thrilled by your response to our ultra-affordable, truly wire-free video home security cameras and monitoring systems.
If you own one of our systems, nothing changes for now. We’ll continue to operate under the Amazon umbrella selling and supporting the same great products you know and love. It’s Day 1 for us at Amazon, and we’re looking forward to seeing what we can deliver to our customers together.
Thank you for your enthusiasm and support for Blink!
