Set to hit the stage at CES 2018 next week is Cubroid’s latest smart toy for kids. Cubroid is a robotics startup with products designed and developed in Newport Beach, California. The company was founded by a team of experts and engineers who are involved with advancing creative and fun educational ideas for children. It’s newest development is called CURO and it will teach the little ones of the world how to code and learn to interact with AI like never before.
CURO is expected to be very different from other educational coding or AI toys out on the market today. Cubroid says that its newest robot is very intuitive, easy-to-use and fun.
CURO has two types of building blocks that each have very unique properties. Plus, each of the included blocks have a wireless module, camera, microphone, LCD display, speaker, motor and they all operate wirelessly. Cubroid hopes that CURO will encourage children’s creativity and imagination.
In the technologically advanced world that we live in today, coding & AI education has become increasingly important,” says Founder and CEO, Mark Shin, who has leveraged a background in educational technology. “We have looked to classic toy items to bring a productive and valuable idea to life.”
When CURO is paired with your smartphone, tablet or PC you get an enhanced experience. Children can use the iOS or Android app to engage with and start movement from their recently constructed blocks. Also, a more advanced online AI program is available to be toyed with by those who want to take their own coding and AI skills to “the next level.”
All of these paired programs and applications can be connected using Wi-Fi and do not involve complicated installation procedures, Cubroid promises.
Jason Kwak, the CTO at Cubroid said, “Our kit is multidimensional, and we truly believe that children will genuinely enjoy learning through CURO. We have thoughtfully designed the blocks and the programs with the optimal user experience in mind.”
During its Kickstarter campaign that is set to launch in June, the new smart toy will be available for pre-ordering starting at $99 from the Early Bird Basic Kit. The expected retail pricing will be around $200 after the Kickstarter campaign.
