If you’ve been paying attention lately, Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant has been added to everything. Just earlier today, we saw a mirror that will have Alexa baked in. Now, we’re seeing Qi- and Lightning-enabled charging docks that have the Alexa voice assistant on-board.
The two new docks from Azpen both feature Bluetooth 4.0 and Hi-Fi speakers so they’ll sound great whether you’re listening to music from your phone or through Alexa itself. The “DockAll Pro Amazon Alexa Qi Wireless Charger” has a built-in Qi wireless charging pad and Alexa, as the name suggests. That’s a mouthful, so I’ll just refer to it as the “DockAll Pro Qi”.
Featuring 10-watt fast Qi charging, you’ll be able to keep your iPhone X or Galaxy Note 8 topped off while hearing the latest news before work. At $150, the DockAll Pro Qi isn’t the most budget-friendly version of Alexa out there, so why get this dock when you can get an Echo 2nd-Gen. and Qi charger for 2/3 the cost? Well, honestly, I hate having multiple things on my desk and this really helps to cut down clutter.
As we get more and more smart devices in our lives, in turn, we get more and more devices across our desk. In my home office, I have an Echo, Google Home, and Home Mini. These three smart home speakers all serve a different purpose. I also have a few different Qi chargers in various places to keep my iPhone X topped off. With the DockAll Pro Qi, I could merge at least two of these devices by getting rid of both a charger and Echo at the same time.
This is all very “first world problem”, but in the technology world, most issues being solved are.
The second dock, the “DockAll Lightning Pro Amazon Alexa MFi Charger”, or “DockAll Lightning” for short, is very similar to its brother. Negating Qi charging, this dock has a built-in Lightning connector to charge your older iPhones that don’t support wireless charging. Still supporting Alexa, you’ll be able to keep your iPhone or iPad charged and figure out how to make that new muffin recipe with the same device.
Just in case you don’t have an iPhone or Qi charging, both docks have two USB ports on the back to provide power the old fashioned way. Both docks also feature support for up to a 64GB microSD card for direct music playback, capacitive front panels for phone and music controls, built-in microphone for speaking on your phone, and more.
The DockAll Lightning and DockAll Pro Qi will both retail for $149.99 each when they go on sale. There is no word yet on when the DockAll Lightning or DockAll Pro Qi will ship, but we expect to find out more at CES.
