Sennheiser is another company we are expecting to unveil, at the very least, a refreshed generation of cans and in-ears. This year at CES, the German audio manufacturer is looking to compete directly with Apple’s BeatsX headphones along with the announcement of a very high-end 800-series set…
The BeatsX are slowly becoming one of the best options in its price range for a capable pair of wrap-around wireless earbuds for workouts that actually look good at the same time. Sennheiser isn’t going to sit idly by though. Its new CX 6.00BT in-ears are looking to knock the crown from the king’s head with a deep feature list and a very affordable price tag.
You’re looking at about 6 hours of battery life on a single charge, which is a couple of hours less than BeatsX. There is also the usual integrated mic, three-button remote and a few other interesting features.
While nothing groundbreaking, the ability the connect to two sources simultaneously (your friend’s phone and then back to yours once you get tired of the trap house playlist) is certainly a nice touch. It sounds like a simple flip of a switch will change your audio source (hopefully quicker and easier than just pulling up your Bluetooth menu). We also getting the ability to run three-way phone conversations.
While they might not beat out every spec on the BeatsX, you’re also saving $50 by comparison. The BeatsX go for $150 from Apple and the new Sennheiser CX 6.00BT cans will release sometime this month for just $100.
Now, on to the entirely outrageous audiophile headphone news. Sennheiser is also introducing the latest pair of headphones in its high-end 800-series lineup. The new HD 820 headphones are looking to take the audiophile world to a whole new level, but it will also reach into to your pocket at a whole new level as well. The Gorilla Glass panels that surround the outside of the ear cups aren’t just for show. According to the company, they play a major role in the sound of the headphones by reflecting escaping audio frequencies back toward the user. The absorber chambers then re-introduce those reflections back into the audio spectrum to offer a more detailed sound and to minimize unwanted resonance.
If all of that sounds pretty cool to you too, well, it should at $2,400. They are set to begin shipping in “early summer” 2018.
Stay locked to Toys as the week rolls on for all the best announcements from CES 2018.
