The Consumer Electronics Show isn’t just about 8K TVs and this magical rollable OLED, it’s also about personal home theaters for your head, fitness tracking rings and new gaming peripherals. Corsair is well known for its hardcore gaming keyboards, mouse pads, mice, headsets and more. The company has showed up at CES 2018 with a few new devices including a wireless gaming keyboard and the interesting new hybrid mouse pad/Qi charger…
The new K63 wireless gaming keyboard employs CHERRY MX Red mechanical keys, adjustable blue backlighting and one tank of a battery. According to Corsair, the K63 can run for 75 hours on a single charge. That will clearly keep you in the game for much longer than anyone should in one sitting.
While it can be powered/connected to your computer over one of those boring USB cables, it can also do so completely wire-free using Bluetooth or a wireless dongle. The mechanical gaming keyboard is also encrypted (128-bit AES), making it much harder for hackers to steal your in-game currency by hijacking your wireless keyboard connection? I guess. You can also use the desktop editor to assign custom hot keys and macros.
Having said all that, it looks as though it is specifically designed for Windows and Android Bluetooth devices. The new Corsair K63 wireless mechanical gaming keyboard is available now for $159.99.
Next up, mouse pad meets Qi wireless charging. Well I guess it makes a lot of sense doesn’t it? A mouse pad that also charges your Qi mouse while you’re using it. But the new MM1000 wireless charging pad will also charge any other compatible devices including your iPhone X/8/Plus, Samsung smartphones and more. The device also ships with USB micro-B, Type-C and Lightning Qi charging adapters enabling you to charge just about anything, whether it supports Qi or not.
The new Corsair MM1000 Qi wireless charging mouse pad is set for release sometime this month and will reach into your pockets to the tune of about $108. A little pricey for a mouse pad, especially considering the design isn’t quite as slim and sleek as I would have hoped. But the dual functionality is pretty awesome. We can’t wait to see if other lifestyle brands jump into this world down the line.
