Straight from CES 2018 in Las Vegas, Satechi is revealing its new Smart Dual Charging Station for Apple gear. Satechi has become well-known for quality accessories at a somewhat affordable price tag and its new charging solution is no exception. While it might not be as groundbreaking as we would have hoped for, the sleek looking dual charger is ready for prime time this year and its semi-modular design can accommodate iPhone, Apple Watch, Apple Pencil and more…
Head over to 9to5Mac for more details.
The Smart Dual Charging Station features a pair of customizable docks that can be re-configured depending on which device or setup you’re after. Using a basic USB-C connection, the dock works with iPhone, Apple Watch, Apple Pencil and more. But one glaring omission here, and on any dock releasing in 2018, would have to be Qi wireless charging capabilities for iPhone.
Satechi claims its new charging station is about as safe as it can get, distributing a total 15W of power without the worry of over heating and things like that. You’ll also find the usual cable management system here, allowing users to wrap the excess charging cable around the base of the dock, hidden away from sight.
One thing that is not entirely clear at this point is what makes the device so customizable. We will reach out to Satechi for more information, but at this point it appears as though the modular dock pieces that sit on the base can be removed and re-distributed to support various device pairings. Think an iPhone and Apple Watch or Watch and Apple Pencil, that kind of thing.
Customizable and convenient charging dock stylishly showcases, stores and charges the newest generation of iPhone and Apple Watch, along with other generation iPhones and accessories such as Apple Pencil and Siri Remote.
The new Satechi Smart Dual Charger will be available in “spring 2018” for $64.99 in both silver and space gray brushed aluminum. That sounds a little bit pricey for a charging dock with no wireless Qi tech in 2018, but chances are we will see some deep deals on this thing in the early part of this year after release. And Satechi already has a Qi wireless charging pad on sale for $29.99.
As previously mentioned, you’ll find even more details over on 9to5Mac.
