Yevo’s new wireless earbuds are made from illegal firearm metal known as Humanium

CES 2018

We have already seen our fair share of new headphone designs from CES 2018. Sennheiser’s new BeatsX competitors, SOL’s very first foray into the world of over-ear Bluetooth and Mymanu’s Click+ live translation headphones are just some of the interesting headsets to come out of Vegas so far this year. While it might be a while until we see the Eagle head-mounted home theater come to fruition, we are quite excited about the new Audio-Technica QuietPoint over-ears.

One thing we expected to see even more of by now is truly wireless earbuds. But the folks over at Yevo have got us covered with its new headset made of a very special metal known as Humanium.

No, not Vibranium. That’s the metal Captain America’s shield is made of. We are talking about Humanium here. While it may not be quite as strong, Humanium is just as special.

As part of a humanitarian project conducted by a company known as IM Swedish Development Partner, Humanium is essentially metal forged out of seized/illegal firearms. IM Swedish has been conducting anti-violence and weapon destruction campaigns in Guatemala and El Salvador for some time and it is finally ready to bring the new Humanium compound to the masses.

The new Yevo X Humanium wireless earbuds and the included charging case are the very first consumer product to come to market using Humanium. Now before we completely digress into consumerism here, just know that 50% of the proceeds on the headphone collab goes directly to IM’s work in the region. That includes de-weaponization programs, children’s rights organizations and much more.

Nice right? Well yeah, but the updated Yevo X headphones will run you a cool $499.99 at retail. That’s basically a $150 up charge over the previous gen Yevo 1 earbuds (seen above), which appear to be basically the same outside of the special metal touches. You can expect the same 30-foot Bluetooth range and 3-4 hour runtime with the 600 mAh battery. Although there is no specific details, we are expecting them to support NFMI (Near Field Magnetic Induction Communication) connections as well.

While that might not sit well with everyone, just remember that a large portion of the cost is going directly to charities in over 12 countries. And they also look pretty fire if you ask me. Yevo has one of the more attractive charging cases on the market, and when you’re talking about truly wireless headphones, that’s a pretty big part of the equation.

As of right now, there are no specific details on when they will be available, but we will update this post as we learn more.
