If you want Colgate’s new $100 smart toothbrush, you’ll have to go to an Apple Store

Colgate has a new toothbrush, announced at CES, and it’s only available at the Apple Store. Yes, it’s exclusive to Apple’s retail locations and it has all of the smart features you’d expect along with a $100 price tag. Much like other ‘smart’ toothbrushes on the market from Sonicare, this new release connects with your iPhone to track each brushing and gather data over time.

The $100 Colgate Connect E1 doesn’t offer much new in the way of features, aside from leaning on Apple’s ResearchKit to collect and crowdsource data for better oral health. It does provide real-time feedback on your form and “detect brushing effectiveness in 16 zones of the mouth.” If there’s anything Apple-esque about it, it’s wrapped in a nearly all-white casing with minimal distraction from its form-factor.

“Our goal is simple. We want people to have their healthiest smiles by brushing their best,” said Dr. Patricia Verduin, Chief Technology Officer, Colgate-Palmolive Company. “The first step to improving brushing is to understand consumers’ brushing habits, and Apple ResearchKit has proved to be a powerful tool for this.”

Apple currently has the new Colgate E1 available for sale today direct  for $99.95. You won’t find it anywhere else, but Amazon does have some other smart alternatives available such as the popular Diamond line from Sonicare.
