LEGO fans are always looking to get their hands on massive brick-built versions of their favorite buildings, cars and starships. And while LEGO has been trying to keep builders happy with even more expensive kits — I’m looking at you UCS Millennium Falcon — the company has more in store to kick of 2018. So in the same sentiment, today LEGO announced that it will be expanding its Technic line of detail-packed cars with the Bugatti Chiron.

Outside of the occasional massive Star Wars or Creator set, Technic kits have long been a source for some of the most attention-grabbing and display-worthy kits. Lately that’s been even more the case, with the Mack Anthem Truck ending last year as one of the biggest and most impressive models.

Now, LEGO is turning the same attention towards a more high-priced vehicle. Many fawn over someday parking a high-end sports car in their garage and for automotive fans with finer taste, Bugatti’s lineup stands out as some of the most impressive.

The Bugatti Chiron has specifically caught LEGO’s eye and packs a 16-cylinder, 1,500 horsepower engine with a top speed over 260 mph. But with a $3 million price tag, the Technic model may just be the most affordable way to own one.

Being that LEGO just teased the new Technic model, details are scarce at the moment. But what we do know is that the Bugatti Chiron was designed at a 1:8 scale and stacks up to 3,599 pieces. The set’s release date has been set for later in the year, so fans may be a bit disappointed to know it won’t be hitting store shelves until August 1st.

In the new Technic set’s announcement, LEGO has most prominently showcased 4 Bugatti-themed tires alongside a steering wheel and some other elements.

In typical LEGO fashion, you can expect the same attention to detail found in just about any of its latest high-end sets. So if one thing’s for sure, it’s that the brick-built recreation of the Bugatti Chiron will surely do the famous supercar justice. I’m extremely excited to see how LEGO plans to handle the car’s iconic curves and front bumper design.

Outside of a teaser image and promotional video, LEGO is keeping its latest must-have build under wraps. Considering it teased the UCS Millennium Falcon for a few months before its release last year, LEGO seems to be taking the rest of the year as a way to stack up some hype around the iconic vehicle’s new brick-built rendition. As we get closer to its fall release date more details should periodically trickle out.
