An Eiffel Tower Diamond Light can be yours, limited edition examples on sale now

The Eiffel Tower is known as one of the most iconic pieces of architecture in the world. Soaring over 1,000-feet above the Paris skyline, it serves as the site for millions of visitors each year. Each night it shines with over 20,000 bulbs that become illuminated for the first five minutes of every hour. Over the last year, many of these lights have been replaced and are now seeking a home.

A limited offering of some 300 ‘Diamond Lights’ are now being made available to the general public. Head below to learn how you could add this limited edition piece to your home’s decor.

Each Eiffel Tower Diamond Light is affixed to mild steel base, which is similar in makeup to the same material used to build the structure itself. La Tour Eiffel chose Venice Red as the color to match the original paint job that was used when it was built in 1889. Few likely realize that the first paint scheme only lasted three years before the darker coloring currently found was adopted.

The bulbs have been slowly replaced in recent years as new electrical codes have been adopted since the lights were originally added in 2000. You can see in the video below how workers have been removing lights individually as they’ve worked on replacements.

This original, authentic piece is one of the diamonds of its legendary necklace of light which sparkles every night in the Paris sky. Until very recently this bulb was shining on the monument itself.

Unfortunately, these lights cannot be used in your home as each model still has the original wiring. But you’ll receive an incredible piece of history with a limited edition plaque and authenticity form noting its location, as well as its number.

Each light is unique and comes with various paint schemes from the many changes that the Eiffel Tower has undergone over the years. Be sure to watch your toes, however, as the 14-pound steel-bound light is rather heavy.

La Tour Eiffel is asking for 540€, which works out to $670 to get on the waiting list for a unit. As of now there are only plans for 300 Diamond Lights to be made available to the general public. If you’re interested, the foundation is currently accepting orders right now, but we’d have to believe that will sell out rather quickly.

In the meantime, if LEGO is more your speed, be sure to check out the Architecture Eiffel Tower which is available for $35 at Amazon. This 300+ piece set measures one-foot high and includes a collectible history booklet.
