Colorware makes a wide selection of bespoke and custom-painted electronics gear for just about all of your favorite manufacturers, as any avid Electronicsforward reader would know by now. That includes everything from a custom Apple Magic Mouse and Keyboard to PlayStation 4 covers, Bose headphones and even Nintendo Switch gear. Needless to say, there’s a little bit of everything for everyone.

Last summer, Colorware introduced a custom-painted set of Nintendo Switch Joy-Con in limited run. The vintage NES style paint job went over well with customers and now the company is tapping into that vintage aesthetic once again for the new Limited Edition 8-bit designs…

While the number of official special color Joy-Con have grown significantly since the Switch launched, they still don’t quite touch the detail of the new Colorware overhaul. Not unlike the Joy-Con classic that dropped last June, the new 8-bit design features that classic grey and red of the original Nintendo Entertainment System along with some extra detail to make things pop.

While last time we only got a custom pair of Joy-Con, Colorware has opted to bring the NES look to both the mini hybrid controllers and the Nintendo Pro Controller.

Both designs feature a two-tone grey and charcoal finish with lighter grey accents. You’ll find that classic Nintendo red across the four face buttons as well as some of the typography throughout. While the front of the Pro controller and Joy-Con have what appears to be a matte finish, the red face buttons and the backside of the Pro Controller have a more glassy look to them.

The Nintendo Switch has blurred the line between console gaming and hand held gaming. This amazing new concept has revolutionized the gaming experience.

Reminisce while gaming with Colorware’s limited edition 8-bit Joy-Cons and Pro Controller. With Colorware’s new release, you can relive the past in your gaming experience. Available for a short time only, don’t miss your chance to enjoy these customized gaming creations. Yesterdays technology is today’s hottest retro trend!

All things considered, these are just your typical official controllers with a Colorware paint job on them. So you can expect the same level of functionality as the standard version. You can get a complete rundown in our hands-on review of both the Pro Controller and Joy-Con, after Coloware has its hands on them.

And, if it wasn’t already obvious, you’re looking at quite a healthy upcharge compared the base model controllers. Over $100 more in fact, which for some would be out of the question. But having said that, these are some of the best looking NES style Switch controllers out there, and would look amazing in any game room or die-hard Nintendo fan’s living room.

The Pro Controller 8-bit goes for $189 and the Joy-Con is listed for $199.
