Brewie returns with its second generation iPhone-connected homebrew kit

Taking the guesswork out of homebrewing can be a tricky proposition. This hobby has seen a rise in interest over the last few years with various manufacturers offering automated systems. One of which is Brewie. After unveiling its first model a few years back, it’s making a return on the first day of March with its second generation homebrew kit.

While there are various ways to jumpstart your at-home brew setup, Brewie looks to simplify things in an attractive aluminum package. Naturally, it’s also iPhone-connected so you can monitor levels and progress while your beer is taking shape. On top of that, Brewie has a number of enhancements that should make for a smoother experience all around.

The development team at Brewie spent years looking at how it could improve on its first generation model. That started with replacing key elements that heated the system. Making a few changes supposedly shaved an hour off the total brew time. Along with a few upgrades to the mechanical side, Brewie also doubled the on-board RAM, which welcomes a whole host of new features.

Where Brewie differs from the competition, such as PicoBrew, is its ability to use ingredients from just about any source. Other brands use in-house ingredients, which can lock customers into pricey subscription models. Potentially a negative, however, is that Brewie users can be left to measure their ingredients, which may result in more errors throughout the process.

Taking brewing experience, technical simplification and user feedback into consideration, the Brewie+ has become the simple most advanced brewing machine on the market. By optimizing firmware control and introducing custom-made parts, the total brewing time has been decreased by up to 15%. With upgraded inner water sensors, the Brewie+ is the no-nonsense, easy-to-handle brewing device you’ve been waiting for.

If you prefer to go the pre-packaged route, Brewie does offer all-in-one bundles for this purpose.

Brewie is designed to provide five-gallons of beer at a time. Comparable systems from PicoBrew churn out a rather modest 2.5-gallons in comparison.

The integrated smartphone control allows users to monitor brew progress and receive step-by-step instructions on how to achieve the best at-home beer. Much like other popular smartphone-connected platforms on the market, you’ll receive alerts whether at home or on-the-go.

Interested in Brewie? It’s going to cost you. A single unit of the second generation model is currently getting a launch day discount to $1,799. The price will just back up to $2,399 after the intro pricing expires. Brewie is also offering a few additional discounts for restaurants that are looking to get into homebrewing without going all-in. All of the pricing for models available on launch day can be found here.
