While February and March are usually considered to be among the slower months for game releases, it has been a pretty busy 2018 thus far. Monster Hunter World and the Shadow of the Colossus remaster dropped last month and March will be seeing the next entry in the Far Cry series, Microsoft’s new Sea of Thieves IP and a long, lost Assassin’s Creed title get some new life. And don’t forget about the Devil May Cry remaster collection and Kirby Star Allies for Switch.

All that and more in March 2018’s best video game releases below:

Assassin’s Creed Rogue: Remastered PS4/Xbox One – Mar 20th

After the successful launch of Assassin’s Creed: Origins in late 2017, Ubisoft is looking to extend the series into 2018 with the remastered version of Assassin’s Creed Rogue. The game snuck under the radar when it originally released simultaneously alongside Assassin’s Creed: Unity in 2014. While Unity was the big shiny new release for the, at the time, new generation hardware, Rogue released as the sequel to Black Flag for PS3 and Xbox 360. While it in fact reviewed much better than Unity ever did, many people didn’t get a chance to play it. So now’s your chance.

Assassin’s Creed Rogue, the darkest chapter of the Brotherhood, will now be remastered in higher quality and available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4! Available on March 20th.

Not only was it the sequel to one of the series most popular titles in Black Flag, but also a prequel to 2012’s Assassin’s Creed III. It follows the story of an assassin-turned-templar during the Seven Years’ War.

Sea of Thieves PC/Xbox One – Mar 20th

Microsoft’s swashbuckling exclusive washes onto Xbox One and PC on March 20th. Sea of Thieves is a first-person game that will see players battle for pirate supremacy in large cooperative teams in an expansive tropical environment:

Form a crew and take to the open ocean on voyages to discover buried treasure, solve puzzling riddles, secure precious cargo and combat a wide array of challenges. In a world where every sail signals a ship crewed by real players with unique goals and motivations, you never know what lies over the horizon.

Late last month, Microsoft unveiled the Xbox One S Sea of Thieves Limited Edition Bundle for release on the same day as the game. It is already up for pre-order.

Sea of Thieves $60 or $48 w/ Prime

Far Cry 5 PS4/Xbox One/ PC – Mar 27th

Far Cry 5 is likely the most anticipated release of he month. The long running series has been plagued with gameplay fatigue over the years, but it looks like Ubisoft has made an honest attempt to switch things up without losing the essence of the Far Cry experience. In other words, you won’t just be hunting down look-out towers to reveal points of interest on the map the entire time, etc.

Freely explore Hope County’s rivers, lands, and skies with the largest customizable weapon and vehicle roster ever in a Far Cry game. You are the hero of the story in a thrilling world that hits back with every punch, and where the places you discover and the locals you ally with will shape your story in ways you’ll never see coming.

This time around things will be much closer to home as well with players looking to liberate small town America from a reckless religious cult.
