Have you ever sat in your throne room and thought, “My toilet just isn’t smart enough?” Well, Toto, a maker of high-end bathroom furniture, apparently did. The company recently announced the Neorest NX2 toilet, a conceptual throne running in the neighborhood of $11,000. Yes, that’s right, an $11,000 toilet.
Let’s go over a few things that $11,000 normally buys: a used (or sometimes new) car, a mid-tier iMac Pro, 11 iPhone X’s, and more. But, Toto wants you to drop it on a toilet. What makes this throne worth so much, you ask? Well, let’s dive in and take a look.
As you approach the Neorest NX2, it will automatically open and turn the “soft light” on, illuminating the toilet. As this is happening, it’ll turn on the instantly heated seat so you never sit on a cold toilet again. The built-in bidet will give you a “pre-mist”, and you get to go about your business.
Once you sit down and finish, then there is a built-in deodorizer to keep the throne room from creating too much of a stench, and the self-cleaning bidet wand pops out again. This means you don’t even need toilet paper when using the bathroom thanks to this high-end smart toilet.
After you finish up on the Neorest NX2 and it cleans you, you just stand up and walk away. No buttons to press, it will auto flush and clean itself. After this, it will turn off the heated seat if on and close the lid, then clean itself again.
This toilet takes all of the hassles of owning or cleaning a toilet away and resolves some things that we never knew were an issue in the first place. Because it auto closes the lid, you’ll never have to worry about leaving the lid up again, and since it cleans you automatically, you don’t ever need to think “Do I have toilet paper?” before entering the bathroom.
The materials that Neorest NX2 is made from are also unique. The ultra-smooth ceramic makes it so you shouldn’t have to worry about deposits sticking to the bowl, and the electrolyzed water keeps everything sterile after your business is done.
There is even a built-in ultraviolet light and more to help keep this toilet extra clean and make it so you never have to worry about built-up germs or junk again.
There’s a lot that goes into Toto’s Neorest NX2 smart toilet. It is an $11,000 toilet, so it should have some crazy awesome features, after all. And, it really does. I’d love to at least try out one of these toilets, but at $11,000, I doubt many will actually sell.
I didn’t think the toilet market is something that was really lacking, and I honestly still don’t. This toilet is quite unique and has interesting features that solve problems I didn’t realize we faced. But, I don’t think an $11,000 toilet is the solution. The Neorest NX2 is slated to be available in the third quarter of 2018.
