Rad Power Bikes is out to demonstrate that owning an electric bike doesn’t mean spending a fortune. It’s new 2018 lineup offers four different varieties priced from $1,499. Over the past year, many releases have been marked by increased range and new features, which has of course resulted in rising prices. Rad Power Bikes looks to remove sticker shock from the equation with designs that are rider-friendly and remove any intimidation.
One of Rad Power Bikes’s strengths is its ever-expanding catalog of electric bikes. Whether you’re a family looking for a new ride, or simply an urban commuter, you’re sure to find something of interest here.
I’d say most potential buyers would be interested in the RadRover, a fat-tire style eBike that sports a 750-watt motor and 48-volt power supply. The larger tire makes it a natural companion for outdoor rides and really just about any scenario.
It comes with dual rack mounts on the front and back, along with a seven-speed transmission provided by Shimano, one of the most trusted names in the game. The RadRover tops out at 20mph with a high-end range of 45-miles. At $1,499, it’s on the lower-end of the pricing spectrum that we’ve seen from competitors with similar specs.
Those with families or more cargo in general may want to take a look at the RadWagon. It’s similar in specs to the Rover, but has a utilitarian cargo space that can be used for hauling gear or kids. It has the same 750W motor but comes with five different power-assisted modes to make those rides easier. You’ll find similar range and top-speeds here as well. Integrated throttle control is a welcome addition that we’re certain will make those heavy-cargo rides easier. It sells for $1,599.
Finally, and perhaps of most interest for us, is the $1,499 RadMini. With a slim fold-up design and fat-tires, it’s the most versatile of the bunch. It supports up to 275-pounds and sports a total range of up to 45-miles.
This model has a built-in LCD display that communicates all of your pertinent ride data, including power remaining and overall speed. An integrated headlight, 20mph speeds and 7-speed Shimano Acera drivetrain round out the list of notable features.
You can find more details over at Rad Power Bikes on each of its 2018 releases.

THE BEST JUST GOT BETTER

Rad Power Bikes is on a mission to build ebikes that are built for everything, but priced for everyone. Our 2016/2017 fleet of electric bikes have risen to be some of the most popular ebikes on the market and we are extremely proud of what we have made, but we always feel like we can do more.
We are excited to announce our completely redesigned lineup of electric bikes for 2018! Built from the ground up, all of our models feature brand new frame designs and color schemes, a new and improved battery that is compatible across all models, and even more robust components and line of accessories.
This may just be one of the biggest launches in ebike history, become part of it today!
Founded by three Forbes and Inc Magazine 30 Under 30 recipients, Rad Power Bikes is an electric bike manufacturer offering direct to consumer pricing on electric bikes that are designed by our team in Seattle.
The idea for Rad Power Bikes was born in rural Northern California in the summer of 2007 when we launched our first ebike prototypes using lead acid batteries and, at the time, high power brushless motors. Since then, Rad Power Bikes has been at the forefront of electric vehicle technology development with their line of electric fat bikes, cargo bikes, folding bikes, and city commuters and is now the largest consumer direct ebike brand in the United States. Rad Power Bikes has been a design/build/maintain full-service ebike brand since its inception in 2007.
Shop online or visit our Seattle electric bike shop where you can learn all about ebike technology, test ride our bikes, and join us in helping jump start the electric bike revolution!
Why are our bikes often less than half the price of comparable bikes on the market? Because we sell direct to you, the consumer. We intentionally forgo the traditional bicycle distribution channel because that way of selling means a higher price tag for the consumer. The only place you can purchase our ebikes are direct from us, and because of that, you won’t see the large retail markup that would be present if you were buying from a third party, ensuring you’re always getting the best deal on your electric bike.
