This year is shaping up to be Amazon’s most adventurous yet with arguably more irons in the fire than ever before. Since it acquired Whole Foods last year, Jeff Bezos and crew have been dabbling in more and more areas. That includes new initiatives, food delivery, a potential entry to banking and more.

Well, today we’ve caught wind of its latest plan. Amazon is now offering home security services with full customization for your dwelling. A new landing page just popped up with full details and plans that start at $240 installed. Head below for a full breakdown.

It’s no surprise that Amazon is officially making in-roads to home security. After it launched Amazon Key earlier this year, it’s obvious that Amazon wants to be a part of all your happenings, not just online shopping. The problem for consumers is, they’re paying for all of these new ventures indirectly. Just last night we detailed how Amazon is planning on raising Prime membership costs later this year. It’s easy to see that Amazon’s ventures in other areas are being covered by its most popular offerings for now.

The new Amazon home security systems are built around the Echo and Alexa platform. It’s a natural fit for a device lineup that has quickly become an integral part of any Amazon shopping experience.

Packages start at $240 for the Outdoor Base that includes an Echo Dot and scheduled lighting around your house. Upgrading to the Outdoor Plus package for $490 delivers much of the same plus a video doorbell, most likely thanks to Amazon’s recent acquisition of Ring.

Shifting the focus to inside your home, Amazon is launching its service with three different options today. The Indoor Base package starts at $320 with renters in mind. It’s centered around Amazon’s Cloud Camera and comes with additional door sensors and sirens.

Making the jump to the Smart upgraded level for $575 includes an Echo Dot and a video doorbell. Finally, the high-end Smartest kit includes everything we’ve detailed above, minus automated indoor lighting, for some reason, with a price of $840.

Amazon positions its new home security offerings as a no-cost and “stress-free” solution for those looking to dive into smart home monitoring, but need a little help along the way. I’d guess that most of our readers here at Electronicsforward would be capable of installing such a system on their own, if saving money was of utmost concern.

The reality is, most of the pieces in Amazon’s home security puzzle can be easily purchased separately and assembled independently. It’s worth noting that much of Amazon’s fees associated with its home security offerings cover the installation process.

If you’ve been following along with Amazon’s happenings over the last year, it’s easy to see how we’ve got to this point. They have methodically been unveiling new products on a regular basis, while also acquiring new companies, that have culminated in today’s news. Amazon isn’t just selling you books and movies anymore. It’s a full-scale behemoth that wants to play a role in every part of your life.
