Rockstar doesn’t put out very many games, but when it does, the entire gaming world shuts down to pay attention. We already know Red Dead Redemption 2 is scheduled for release this year and today we are getting a brand new trailer. While we are yet to see the game go gold (ready for consumer manufacturing) and after several delays pushed its release to late 2018, it looks as though the folks at Take-Two are confident the game won’t get pushed back again.
Back in September of 2017 was the last time we got a proper trailer from Rockstar. We were introduced to the game’s protagonist, Arthur Morgan, along with the Van der Linde gang the story will center around. We also got a quick tease of the overall narrative, various environments and even combat.
The game takes place in 1899, nearing the end of the wild west era. The story sets off as officials are scouring the west to hunt down remaining outlaws. After some kind of heist goes wrong in the town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee as federal agents and bounty hunters search the countryside for the infamous outlaws.
Rockstar suggests there will be some serious internal conflict in the gang that will force Arthur to make some tough decisions regarding his personal well-being and his loyalty to the group.
Back in February, Rockstar and Take-Two released some new screenshots along with the official October 26th, 2018 release date. Back in May of last year, the game got pushed from a 2017 fall release to spring 2018, only to get bumped once more to October 26th.
While it is still possible we see it get delayed again, it’s looking like Rockstar is finally going to hit its mark. Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two, has stated that it is “confident” the team will hit the October release date.
But without further ado, let’s get to the good stuff. We get another great look at the game world and its gorgeous visuals along with a whole lot more:
America, 1899. The end of the wild west era has begun as lawmen hunt down the last remaining outlaw gangs. Those who will not surrender or succumb are killed.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is releasing October 26th and is already up for pre-order at Amazon: 20% for Prime members. Pre-order listings are going in and out of stock at this point and we have yet to see Best Buy’s listing go live.
