Sennheiser’s new sweat/waterproof CX SPORT In-Ear Bluetooth Headphones available now

After announcing new in-ears and the audiophile HD 820’s for $2,400 back at CES earlier this year, Sennheiser’s latest wireless sports set is now up for sale. While the company already has quite a large selection of sports and workout-oriented headsets available on the market, the latest entry in its CX-series in-ears are going up for sale starting today.

Last time around, Sennheiser introduced BeatsX-style in-ears that appeared to fit more comfortably into the lifestyle side of things, despite sporting some exercise-friendly features. This time around, the new CX SPORT in-ear Bluetooth Headphones are clearly designed to meet the demands of an active lifestyle and, more specifically, your workouts.

Designed to move”, the new CX SPORT in-ears feature the usual around the neck cable design and come with an optional clip to keep it out of the way, three fin sizes and four different ear adapters. Sennheiser has also built-in splash and sweat resistance that will keep the headphones safe against early morning runs in the rain as much as sweaty cross-fit sessions.

You’re looking at Bluetooth 4.2 and the ability to connect the CX SPORT in-ears with two sources simultaneously. Qualcomm apt-X will “ensure uncompromised wireless Hi-Fi sound” and, according to Sennheiser, it will also keep audio in-sync when watching video over a wireless connection. All of that will run for 6-hours straight. The system supports quick-charging and will give you an extra hour of playback in just 10 minutes of charging. A full charge will take about one and a half hours.

The new Sennheiser CX SPORT In-Ear Bluetooth Headphones are now on sale for $129.99 shipped. The headphones come with a USB charging cable, the aforementioned fin and ear adapter sets, the cable clip and a storage pouch.

While the CX SPORT seem like a perfectly capable new set of sports in-ears, these typical “old-school” wireless sets are starting to get well, boring. It’s the same features release-after-release and it seems like only a matter of time before the truly wireless category takes over completely.

Having said that, many still prefer and more traditional in-ear set for workouts/runs and Sennheiser certainly has the pedigree to release them at $130.
