iOttie has gone from basically a no-name tech brand to what might be considered one of the most popular affordable accessory names out there. Its smartphone mounts (among other things) are incredibly popular among 9to5 readers and its iON charging solutions haven’t been far behind since Apple launched Qi compatible handsets last year.
While the original has been popular among consumers, iOttie is ready to release an upgraded model that should take up less space on your desk, get the job done safely and look pretty nice in the process.
The previous generation iON Wireless Qi Charging Pad Plus supports all of the new iPhones as well as any Qi-enabled Android phone. It has amassed a solid review score thus far, but iOttie felt it was time to upgrade ahead of this year’s new Apple device lineup.
As the name suggests, the new iON Wireless Mini Fast Charging Pad is basically the same product with a similar fabric-style finish but with a smaller footprint. The previous generation model came in at 5- x 7- x 4-inches and the new model shed some weight measuring just 3.5– x 2.56- x .75-inches. Clearly iOttie is looking to save some space on your desktop or counter, and it has certainly succeeded in doing so.
Measuring 3.5 by 2.5 inches, iOttie’s iON Wireless Mini is a compact charging hub that is both stylish and efficient. The smaller design is ideal for use on desks and counters where space is often limited. Additionally, the internal structure of the device is engineered to reduce heat, which ultimately improves wireless charging efficiency.
Needless to say the new model is also compatible with the latest generation iPhones as well as all Qi-compatible Android devices. The “Fast Charging” comes in at 7.5W on an iPhone and 10W for Android handsets. You’re also getting anti-slip silicone pads (a must have for charging pads in my opinion) and the LED charging indicator as well the included USB-C to USB-A cable.
Available in 4 colorways, ash, ivory, ruby and charcoal, the new iON Wireless Mini Fast Charging Pad is available now for $39.95. However, the charcoal model is getting a special launch price at Amazon and is now down to $29.95 shipped. It ships with a 2-year product warranty from iOttie.
The price here isn’t overly exciting, but judging by what’s out there it is pretty comparable. Samsung’s model doesn’t look as nice and it sells for over $40 and Anker has model that goes for about $20 some might be just as happy with. Nonetheless, iOttie remains competitive and one of the top budget brands in the space.
