(Update 6/21 3:00pm): The new Bose sleepbuds are now available for purchase at Amazon and Best Buy for $249.99. Amazon’s listing is going in and out of stock by the looks of it, but they are available at Best Buy and direct from Bose.

Bose took to crowdfunding site Indiegogo late last year in a somewhat odd move for the iconic audio company. It was looking for testers on a new set of Noise-Masking Sleepbuds designed to help you, as the name suggests, get a better night’s rest. In fact, the company ended up selling about 3,000 pairs of prototypes to a lucky few, but now it looks like the Noise-Making Sleepbuds are going prime time.

Bose has introduced a few interesting products over the last little while, all of which are taking the company into new territory. Whether it be the Hearphones or the wearable Soundwear neck speaker, Bose is looking to diversify its lineup of stellar audio products with smart features and interesting designs, for better or worse.

While not much is known about the Sleepbuds outside of what we saw on the Indiegogo campaign prototypes. We have received an invite to attend a June 20th press event where will see Bose’s official bedtime buds get unveiled.

From what we do know, the Sleepbuds are tiny and comfortable truly wireless earbuds designed to block out your snoring partner, busy traffic and anything else that might keep you awake. All while beaming soothing audio (or not) into your dreams from the companion app. In fact, Bose acquired a San Diego start-up by the name of Hush in order to implement its technology into the new Sleepbuds.

The prototypes also featured a silver-zinc rechargeable battery that will run for two nights straight without a charge. There was also a handy charging case included as well.

A few other interesting points was that they do not play music. The prototype version were confirmed to only run the soothing audio from the app and were not capable of playing music from your typical sources. Hopefully that changes come June 20th, but it’s not looking good. However you were able to set an alarm to wake you up, and because it’s in the Sleepbuds, it won’t wake your sleeping partner.

The Indiegogo release went for $250 and most are expecting the full launch to land at around the same. Some are even expecting the Sleepbuds to actually go on sale for June 20th as well. Reports suggest they were ready to go in April but chip upgrades were needed in order to allow users to add new sleep sounds via the companion app. More details coming at the end of next month.

As a side note, here’s to hoping we see some awesome new AirPlay 2 Bose speakers unveiled at the event too!
