Dash cameras are becoming must-haves for many consumers. From traffic stop recording to accidents, dash cams can really be beneficial for having records of traffic-related problems.
Well, Cobra, the company behind many dash radar detectors, recently launched its new Drive HD Dash Cameras, with features such as its built-in iRadar integration, dual camera view, and more available throughout the lineup.
Dash cams are also great for trips. I recently drove from my home in Florida up to Nashville, Tennessee for vacation and kept my dash cam going the whole way. This gave me awesome footage of driving through the mountains (or would have had it not been 10PM when we went through), and also records of other drivers on the road.
Cobra is very well-known for its radar detectors, so you know that these dash cameras will be quality.
I have gone hands-on with some of this lineup, and you can expect a full review to follow. I’ve spent the most time with the DASH 2316D, which is the iRadar dual camera version.
This model features a front and rear camera, with iRadar features. iRadar provides alerts to upcoming speed or red light cameras, live police locations, and caution areas.
The iRadar versions of the cameras can pull location and speed data to embed it into the video files of the dash cameras, and the router information is then displayed into the map view which gives you exact location mapping for points on the recording.
This could be crucial to proving your innocence in a traffic ticket, accident, or other moving violation.
The other cameras in the lineup are the DASH 2208 and 2216D, which are the non-iRadar versions. The price points here are $139.95 and $209.95, respectively. The 2216D features dual cameras, which can record in 1080p when both are enabled or 1296p when just the front is turned on.
The Dash 2308 and Dash 2316D are the iRadar versions. the Dash 2308 is the base version of the iRadar versions and runs $169.95. The 2316D has iRadar and both front and rear cameras, coming in at a cost of $239.95.
If picking a camera, I would suggest spending the extra few dollars to get the iRadar versions, even if you don’t expect to use that function right off the bat.
With the superior 1296p recording of the single lenses or dual 1080p recording, these cameras can really help you in a bind when it comes to traffic issues.
These cameras are available for purchase now direct from Cobra’s website.
