This morning, Amazon announced that it is expanding Prime members benefits to Whole Foods markets in an additional 10 states. Along with today’s news is a new set of grocery offers on some of the store’s most popular items.
Ever since it acquired Whole Foods last year, Amazon has slowly been rolling out additional perks for Prime members. Just last month we caught wind of potential changes to these benefits, and now some are coming to fruition. Head below for more.
It’s a no-brainer that Amazon would and will continue to leverage its ever-expanding base of Prime members as a means to get shoppers into Whole Foods locations. Today’s news expands that reach to ten new states, including Georgia, Arizona, North Carolina and Oregon. That brings the total number of states in the program to over 20.
Last month’s report detailed that Prime members were expected to save an extra 10% as a means to get more customers in-store. Today, we’re getting our first look at what that actually details. Beginning on June 13th, the following exclusive offers will be available at eligible locations:
- Organic yellow nectarines and peaches, $1.99/lb., save $2/lb.
- Made-in-house pork sausage, no antibiotics, $3.99/lb., save $3/lb.
- Wild sustainably caught yellowfin tuna steaks, $15.99/lb., save $9/lb.
- Annie’s Natural Macaroni & Cheese, buy one, get one free
- Essentia Water, 1.5L bottles, 4/$5
- Self-serve tea cookies by the pound, 50 percent off (one-day sale, June 15)
Along with that selection, Prime members can save “an additional 10 percent off hundreds of sale items throughout the store.” Those details are rather slim, but this is the type of scenario we’ve been imagining for some time since the merger was first announced.
Prime members will need to leverage the Whole Foods Market app and sign-in with their Amazon account to lock in the added savings. You can learn more about Prime member savings on this landing page and don’t forget that Prime Rewards Visa cardmembers receive 5% cash back on all Whole Foods purchases too.
