OriginX delivers 100 favorite retro titles in a gorgeous wall-mounted console [Gallery]

Atari and Pong hold a special place in the hearts of gamers everywhere. Often thought of as the beginning of modern gaming, these icons were a household name throughout the 80s. In recent years, retro titles have enjoyed a re-birth in popularity and more folks than ever are looking to cash in on this trend.

Enter the designers at Love Hulten out of Europe. They’ve crafted a gorgeous standing video arcade that mounts directly to your wall and delivers all of the retro fun you can imagine. Dubbed OriginX, this handcrafted wooden cabinet is made from walnut with a yellow control panel crafted from aluminum. More details below.

Limited to just 50 examples, OriginX is a dream for any retro-enthusiast. But with just a handful headed for production, they’re sure to be tough to come by. It is made with Pong’s original arcade cabinet in mind, featuring the same wooden sides and a bright yellow forward-facing design.

The modern-day version ships with two controls and a built-in computer that runs the popular MAME emulator. While Pong is the headlining title here, you can upload as many as 10,000 titles to the system. A 19-inch LCD 4:3 display sports a custom distortion filter to give it that retro-inspired CRT feel.

OriginX is a link between the present and the past and a tribute to the arcade. The slim wall mounted cabinet combines modern hardware with classic design and lets you enjoy classic co-op games like Metal Slug, Gauntlet and Contra in first class. It can store over 10.000 emulated games. Add your own favorites through USB and create a personal game library.

If you’re lucky enough to score an OriginX unit, it will ship with 100 games that includes popular titles like Donkey Kong, NBA Jam, Pac-Man, Paperboy and more. Love Hulten is asking €2,899 which comes to roughly $3,400. Like we said though, if you’re interested, jump on it now. Units start shipping in August.
