Pirelli, the iconic tire brand, now makes a must-have Bluetooth speaker for any car enthusiast

When you hear Pirelli, either you instantly know the company or you’ve never heard of them. I’ve always been a fan, but that’s because I’m big into muscle cars. Pirelli, for those who don’t know, is a tire manufacturer whose products are often used on high-end sports and race cars. When I think of Pirelli, I think of tires…not the company’s latest product.

Pirelli partnered with IXOOST to make a P ZERO Bluetooth speaker. Yes, a Bluetooth speaker from a tire company. The design is what you’d expect, one of Pirelli’s iconic racing wheels used by Formula 1 teams in wind tunnels for scale-sized testing. But a speaker from a tire company? This could become a new trend among companies, and I am totally OK with that.

When it comes to companies making products, generally they stick to a single area (hopefully). Pirelli has always made tires, but in order to get its name out there more, it figured it was time to branch out a bit.

I, for one, am happy that Pirelli didn’t attempt to make this speaker in-house, but went with IXOOST, who is known for making quality speaker systems for cars.

The design is what you’d think, it looks like a tire. I mean, it looks exactly like a tire you’d find on a Formula 1 car. However, though Pirelli is known for its tires, the P Zero Sound is not made from actual rubber, which is a darn shame.

This new Bluetooth speaker packs Bluetooth 4.0, APTX, and easily connects to any device, and is available in nine different colors, so you can be sure that it matches wherever you put it.

Sound-wise, there is a 100-Watt digital signal processor with a 4-inch woofer to give you deep bass. There’s also a 1-inch tweeter for the higher-end of the spectrum, giving you a full soundstage no matter what you’re listening to.

IXOOST makes the entire speaker in Italy with hand-crafted touches and superb attention to detail.

As a car enthusiast myself, I would absolutely love to have one of these in the garage to keep the tunes going while working on my latest project vehicle (currently restoring a 2001 Trans Am). It’d be the talk of car guys and clubs around and sound great at the same time.

Pricing, however, could limit its adoption. Rumored pricing puts it at around 2,400 euros, which is just under $3,000. Though expensive for a speaker, you’re really paying for the name here.

Pirelli is set to preview this new speaker at the Formula 1 Pirelli Grand Prix de France 2018.
